Irish Red Cross’ head of international development Noel Wardick has lost his job.
He blew the whistle – and was suspended for doing so – after he admitted writing a blog that had highlighted financial irregularities at the charity.
An independent inquiry into the matter was launched as a result of the issues he raised but it was scrapped in favour of an internal one – the credibility of which has been questioned in the Dail.
As of last Wednesday, he is no longer an Irish Red Cross employee, he is planning to appeal his sacking and he will be taking a case of unfair dismissal against him.
